About Us
Founded in 2018, Marfa Spirit Co began as project born out of curiosity and appreciation of the high Chihuahuan Desert. We are first and foremost spirits obsessives. We were originally drawn to Marfa because of the Sotol plants that grow wild throughout the Chihuahuan Desert — from which the centuries-old tradition of making alcohol by the same name comes. During our frequent travels in Mexico, we developed deep appreciation for Sotol, Mezcal and Tequila (and the wide array of variations on those spirits) and we sought to put our spin on distilling the plants that grow around us.
Since opening our doors in 2021, we have been fortunate to explore a wide cross-section of the spirits world — rum made with molasses sourced from the last sugar cane mill in South Texas, high desert gin, brandy, Rio Grande Valley citrus liqueurs, and releasing later this year, our much-anticipated and detailed approach to Far West Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
